Tekkit Introduction

So I have been playing Minecraft a lot lately and figured I would post a little bit of what I have been up to.

I downloaded the Tekkit mods recently and have dove head first into it. At first it was a little overwhelming with all these new recipes, new machines, new everything. But I used my vanilla Minecraft skills to start building a house and collecting the basic supplies and before I knew it I was already loving the new features that came with the mod.

Mainly the recipe book, being able to see how to craft anything in the game right from a crafting window is something that I don't know how I got along without before. It really comes in handy with the tons of new recipes there are to explore.

It also made me browse through the extensive list wondering what all these things do and how I can use them to do my bidding in my new world.
Anyway one of the reasons that I wanted to play this mod was because of all the updated machinery and gizmos and gadgets that come with it. Sure enough without spending to much time in my "vanilla" mode I started producing power and that opened up a whole new world of possibilities.

Which led me to build my six engine power center at my home base. This took several hours to build and many different attempts to get it working just right. Even one explosion but in the end I am very happy with the way it came out and so far it is provided me with more then enough power to do whatever it is i feel like doing.

The big water tank in the back is mainly for show with the lava and all that under it, I kinda got carried away. But it does serve a really good purpose and that is to keep my engines cool. Because like I accidentally found out, that when you run low on water the combustion engines will "combust" and take out half your house with them. Cooling them actually seems to be a bit of a challenge but it is a milestone and a learning curve that you must get by in order to move on to the really fun stuff that this mod pack has to offer.
